Guiding principles for ethical conduct within the Lanka Dementia & Alzheimer Association community
The Lanka Dementia & Alzheimer Association (LDAA) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct. This Code of Ethics establishes the principles and values that guide our members in their professional activities, interactions with patients and families, and service to the community.
Treating all individuals with empathy, dignity, and respect
Acting honestly and transparently in all matters
Striving for the highest standards in all endeavors
Members shall respect the autonomy, dignity, and rights of all individuals, including those with dementia. We recognize that every person deserves to be treated with respect regardless of their cognitive status.
Members shall act in the best interests of those they serve, promoting well-being and quality of life for individuals with dementia and their families.
Members shall refrain from actions that may harm individuals or the reputation of the profession. We commit to "do no harm" in all our interactions.
Members shall protect the privacy and confidentiality of individuals and families, sharing information only with proper consent and legitimate purpose.
Members shall maintain and enhance their professional knowledge and skills through continuous learning and development.
Members shall take responsibility for their actions and decisions, and be willing to explain and justify their conduct when necessary.
Violations of this Code of Ethics may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to warnings, suspension, or termination of membership. The Ethics Committee shall review all reported violations and recommend appropriate action.
